Facts About a Mug Chiller

A mug chiller is becoming a popular refrigeration appliance nowadays. Most restaurants and bars now use a mug chiller because it is more convenient to use, cost effective, and easy to place anywhere inside the establishment. This refrigeration system serves one true purpose, which is to chill mugs for beers and other alcoholic beverages. However, a mug chiller is also versatile because it can also be used as a glass froster, or plate froster or chiller for salads and other foods. According to some sources, a refrigerator or a refrigerating appliance is a device for cooling foods and other items. A refrigerating device is composed of a heat pump and a heat insulated compartment.

The heat pump serves to transfer heat from the device to the outside environment, thus cooling the objects inside the device at a freezing temperature. There are several types of refrigerating systems. The most commonly used is the compressor refrigerator. One downside of a compressor refrigerator is it is noisy. Other types of refrigerating devices include absorption refrigerators, thermal mass refrigerators, solar refrigerators, and magnetic refrigerators. Absorption refrigerators are also called thermoelectric Peltier refrigerators. These refrigerators are very quiet. Electricity powers both the absorption and compressor refrigerators. Meanwhile, solar refrigerators use solar power to function, and thus are very energy efficient. Also, solar based refrigerators do not use any refrigerant. Magnetic refrigerators work using the principle of magnetocaloric effect. When a metal alloy is placed in a magnetic field, cooling is effected. These refrigeration appliances quickly chill mugs and glasses.

They are ideal during the very hot summer season when customers demand very cold beers and drinks. Cold beverages are ideal partners to several foods. Colder beverages mean more satisfied customers, thus better sales for bars and restaurants. Most mug chillers are made of galvanized stainless steel. This is because stainless steel is a very durable metal. It is resistant to corrosion. It is also a lightweight metal, thus providing an easy transport of the mug chiller. Most mug and glass chillers have glass top door to provide more visibility to the content of the chillers. There are many brands of this refrigeration system today. Some brands have low temperature condensing units that can withstand extremely harsh weather situations. Other models have ventilation grills on the side and rear to improve energy efficiency.
